Suryakumar Yadav, the dynamic Indian batsman, has been making headlines for his explosive batting prowess. He has not only excelled in the T20 format but has now made a significant impact in the One Day Internationals (ODIs) as well. In a recent match against Australia, Suryakumar showcased his remarkable power-hitting skills, leaving cricket fans and pundits in awe. What added spice to this thrilling display was the fact that he was up against his Mumbai Indians teammate, Cameron Green. 

Suryakumar Yadav’s journey to ODI success has been a long and determined one. Earlier this year, the Indian cricket management, led by captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid, recognized Suryakumar’s exceptional T20 cricket form and decided to harness it in the ODI format. Despite months of struggle, Suryakumar’s dedication and the backing of the management finally paid off. In the opening match of the series against Australia, he notched up his first fifty in 590 days for India in the ODI format, setting the stage for what would become a memorable innings.

While Suryakumar’s overall innings were a testament to his skill and temperament, what truly stole the show was his power-hitting display against his IPL teammate, Cameron Green. It was in the 44th over of the match when Suryakumar decided to target Green after a cautious start to his innings.

At the beginning of the over, Suryakumar had an off and middle stump stance with an open stance. However, as Green bowled a length ball down towards leg, Suryakumar swiftly adjusted his position and played a pick-up shot over backward square leg, sending the ball soaring for a six. Green, though, stuck to his plan and bowled the next one shorter, but Suryakumar effortlessly deposited it over fine leg for a 55-meter six.

Green attempted to change his line and pace by delivering a fuller ball outside off with a slower pace, but Suryakumar remained unfazed. He powered the ball over deep extra cover for his third consecutive six. Green’s woes continued as he went full on middle and leg, and Suryakumar effortlessly sent the ball over deep midwicket for another maximum. 

The Indore crowd and television viewers were on the edge of their seats, hoping for a historic repeat of Yuvraj Singh’s 2007 T20 World Cup feat. However, Green finally found some relief with a shorter delivery wide of off, which Suryakumar could only manage to get a single from. Nevertheless, this breathtaking over saw Suryakumar accumulate 26 runs.
